told my girl friend it is done and i am moving out--

i need to change my address but those change of address forms after you fill it out i think the post office sends you a confirmation in the mail i.e. we recently recieved a change of addy form if you not submit one to us please call blah blah

is there any way i can change my addy with out the confirmation coming to the house??

i dont want her to know i am...

i can hold my mail @ the post office i think

if i put a hold on it then fill out the change of addy form the confirmation would be held @ the post office right??? then when the change goes through i can stop the hold

im hoping anyways would that work or not

if not is there any other method to do this?

thanks

The confirmation comes to the new address not the old one.

You can not put a hold on mail from an address you are submitting a change of address from. If you have your mail on hold and a change of address comes in, the hold ends immediately and the mail is processed to the new address.

Confirmation goes out to both the old and new addresses, and they go out AFTER the change is actually processed, sometimes up to two weeks after. So the confirmations will never get held.

Moral of the story: Be honest in your dealings, don't try to hide things, and NEVER screw around with the post office.

If you have a financial account and record a change of address with them, they will probably send the confirmation to the address on file. The idea is that if you changed your address with the post office, the confirmation will be forwarded. If you didn't, and someone else is messing with your account, the unforwarded confirmation will tip you off.

Other than that, I can't think of a way anything would go to your old address, except through an oversight.

Why bother having them hold it at the PO. I think they will do it for a very short time, like going on vacation, etc. I would suggest getting a Mail Box as this will be the address for the P>O> if you don't want her to know your new address Either way you still have to fill out the change of address form.
