He was born in Balkh(a city in today Afganistan, the great empire of Persia back then), traveled to Konya(a city in today Turkey) and died there. All his poems are in Persian, but I dono on what basis turkish government claims he was Turkish wilst he hasn't got even one poem in the turkish language!!

No he was Turkish. Yes he was born in Belh but even today there's a big Turkish population living in Afghanistan,Iran..

And he wrote both in Persian and Ottoman language( a form of Turkish) because all the poets were using that language at those times. Like people use English now. It's the same thing to claim everyone is English on yahoo answers.

Besides, fin respect for what he wrote "come,whoever you are" , this shouldn't be an argument. He was a human,a wise person. It doesn't matter what race he was.

He was born in balkh and he is Iranian?? He is afghan......for your information balkh is in afghanistan and not iran.....
