What would cause a light to flash on and make a pop noise when the lightswitch is off?

It is a ceiling light that is part of a fan. My husband and I have both seen it happen. The lightswitch is off but it makes a "pop" sound and flashes deep blue for a split second.

Any ideas?

sounds like a wire is loose, in the fan, i would check it out or have it checked out, soon,

You have a short. Turn the breaker off and disassemble the fan and look for a loose wire, one with a lot of black from shorting.

you have a short.. Have it checked out soon or increase your fire insurance.
