There body will get cold and they could get hypothermia. Even though there were near a heat source at one time. The body adjust by doing the opposite in a trauma situation.

Someone can go into shock after severe burns - 3rd degree - that cover a large part of their body. Its because the skins layers are gone and the body is exposed to bacteria and loses fluids, the blood pressure drops which sends them into shock, along with septic shock becuz of the infections that have set in from their body being wide open.
They are put into a Burn Unit - a special ICU - and they are given large amounts of iv fluid and antibiotics to save their lives. They end up needing skin grafts and many types of dressings to help heal the burns. They need large amounts of pain medicine because they will end up in a huge amount of pain with all the nerves exposed.
Recovery can be a long process so physical therapy and alot of emotional support is needed.

They turn cold, and their blood pressure drops. They have to be kept warm. and comfortable. If the burn is great enough to cause shock, they should be on the way to a hospital.
