The wires providing electric to the house are showing. they run underground to the house and then through a conduit to the meter. I think there is too much wire showing to just throw dirt on it and have it look right so it appears a new, longer conduit is needed. The guy from the electric company said it was my responsibilty since it was connected to the house. Was he just saying that since it was friday night or is that the case? Isn't everything up to the meter their responsiblity since they'd have to shut off the electric to remove the wires and put a new conduit on?

They are responsible for the power wires from the pole to the meter box. If the underground wires have come to the surface then they must and will rebury them at their expense. Call your power company and report it and also report what the guy said to you...

The power company has a standard they go by, whether you think it's right or not. If you insist they may move it but then charge you for the service, which could be high.

I'm afraid your stuck with what you got unless it's a safety hazard. The electric company is only responsible for getting it to the house. As long as it's within code then they don't care what it looks like.

It may be your cost to change it. Around here the homeowner pays for installation of underground power supply. If the power company is satisfied with it, they will not pay the cost of changing it.
