Wow- you are so lucky! That is awesome that you got a new car. Even if it is just simply "New to you."

Keep proof of insurance in the car at all times. Carry your Driver's license with you when you are driving it. Carry a copy of the registration, as well.

Hide away some emergency money in your glove box, or somewhere hidden. Say, $50. That way, you could us it to get emergency gasoline, or even a tire, if you needed it.

Carry a good spare tire with you, and a jack, and a lug wrench in the trunk. Carry a can of 'Fix a flat', a flash light, a screw driver, and maybe a pair of pliers.

Enjoy your new car!!!

Emergency road side kit for starters. Jumper cables are always a good thing to have in the trunk. Never keep your title in the car, as now day's it's too easy for car theif's to steal it and assume ownership of your vehicle.
And to comment on the post someone put above, with the oil, and new cars now days, you can go 5,000 miles without an oil change. The oil, and filters are alot differnt now days, then back 15-20 years ago.
Don't ever go to a quicklube either, as they don't do a full service as a car needs, and they put the oil filters on too tight.

Read the owners manual.

Oil and filter regularily, more frequently than the manual suggests. Pick one kind of oil, and stick with it. Which you pick is not critical as long as it meets the requirements listed in the your owners manual.

Keep your tires properly inflated.

Be aware of things around you when you drive. There are alot of nuts out there.

gas for starters, Change the oil every 3,000 miles. Also rotate the tires every 3,000 miles. Don't let the inside clutter with stuff. Wash your car on a reguler basis.

Learn what the gauges on the dash are for and monitor them whenever you are driving, also the tire pressure.
