Currently, I have 3 hermit crabs; Hermie (medium-sized), Blackie (medium-sized, a bit bigger than Hermie, but not a lot), and finally Spike ( small size) Every since I purchased them down the shore ( I bought Blackie at Petsmart) ?I noticed they don't eat much; like not at all. Once I left out their food for 1 week, and they barley ate any!! Are they sick, or do they not eat much? And, do you think I'm feeding them enough? I feed them about 1 tablespoon of FMR land hermit crab food, with a little piece of carrot once in a while. They don't eat the carrot, so now I've stopped giving it to them. I change their food every 3 days, but it looks the same as when I put it in their cage. So, are hermit crabs supposed eat so little, or am I feeding them incorrectly? What food do you feed your hermits? Any suggestions?

I would suggest trying other foods. Try fruits, vegetables, nuts, cooked egg, crackers, popcorn, chips, etc. You wouldn't want to eat the same food day after day. They don't either. Give them some variety.

Well maybe it's because they are reacting to their new environment. Maybe the cage is too small and there's not enough water. Maybe they're reacting to the room temperature. Talk to the people at Petsmart and try feed them lettuce. I learned from a lady that has a hermit crab and she feeds it lettuce.

I'd suggest you talk to the folks at Petsmart, and find out what they feed . They should know something to advise you.
