If a fifteen year old girl who has never had a gaming system before were to get a PS2, would this be a good choice? I would also probably ask for Harvest Moon. What games would be good, as well?

I think a PS2 would be a great choice. Also, PS2s and the games for it are quite affordable right now. I'll list some fun, Teen rated games she might like.
Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII
Dragon Quest VIII
Dark Cloud 2
Star Ocean - Till the End of Time
These games are all RPGs, and are all great!

Yes, a PS2 would be a good gaming system for a 15 year old girl that never had a console before.
There were thousands of PS2 games made, but I've noticed that most stores don't sell as much of the PS2 games anymore that they used to sell, but they still sell some of them.
A lot of girls (and some guys) like RPG's like Final Fantasy games, and the PS2 has plenty of those types of games, so the PS2 would be great.

Considering all the next-gen consoles that have come out already a good starting point would either be a PS2 or an XBox. As for games, it just depends on what you are into when it comes to gaming. Personally you can't go wrong with Final Fantasy (pick a number).
