I got rear ended at a stoplight today, I was not at fault, weather was terrible, he just skidded into me. I think I'm fine, car is a bit scratched but no biggie. I figured everything was fine until I realized after driving for awhile my turn signals aren't working, right or left. They are not flashing when I'm driving so no one can tell if I'm turning. And the little right/left arrows inside of the car on the dash that flash and make the tick-tick-tick noise aren't working either.

This question isn't about insurance, or injuries, or how he should pay for it, or how dumb I am not to have gotten his information or called the cops (I know, I know, I'm an idiot, but I was very frazzled) that part is over and done with, there's nothing I can do about it now. So please no tsk-tsking.

All I want to know is a ballpark number on what could be wrong and how much to fix it. Is it an expensive re-wiring job, especially since I can't see the lights working inside either?

Thanks in advance.

the tick tick tick noise actually comes from the turn signal flasher unit in the fuse box. a short such as a pinched wire in the trunk could burn it up or maybe it came loose

Perhaps the jolt cause the bulbs in your turn signals to break the delicate fillamate. I am surprised that none of your signals are not working. Perhaps it is a fuse. Well check the fuse first then change the bulbs in the left and right rear. Some times just one going out will cause the others not to work too.

since the lights inside don't work either, it probably has a blown fuse. the problem is, there has to be a reason the fuse blew. in this case, i'd say it is a result of whatever physical damage to your car. if you just replace the fuse, it will probably blow again. if it does, someone should check it out for you. if you were at our shop it would cost approx. 80.00 ( 1 hour of labor ) to find the problem, plus whatever repairs are needed. cross your fingers and try the fuse first. good luck!!!

Check your bulbs, fuses and flasher unit,if all are ok,start worrying and get a few free estimates from your local garages. But it sounds like the shock has broken the bulb filaments.

dont get a rental car because it will cost more monthly than to just fix it

it will only cost about $300 to $600 depending what insurans company you are with

my mom had to get a cup holder fixed because it broke off and it was $200 repair. yours is going to be expensive.

file the report with your insurance agency and seek their advice as to how to repair the lights. till they're fixed, the car is not street legal. consider a rental car in the meantime.
