Easiest: hire someone.
Large areas: snow blower.
Sidewalks by hand: Use a push shovel.
Scoops: Take smaller scoops than the shovel can handle. May take slightly longer but much easier on the back.

Buy yourself a "scoop" shovel. They sell them at the hardware store for $30-$50. All you have to do is PUSH the snow. No lifting at all. It really saves your back. :)

Use your leaf blower! seriously! I go out every hour or so, before it builds up too much and leaf blow it away.
I learned this trick while working on an estate with brick walkways!
The bricks are not level, so shoveling is imposable and snow blowing rips up the bricks and ruins the snow blower!
So the leaf blower followed by ice melt, followed by leaf blower worked for us!
