They're going to look at all four years of high school, of course. But mostly they will look at your overall GPA and the classes you have taken. Make sure to take a lot of honors classes and take four years of English, math, and science. Take two or more years of foreign language and social studies. Try to be involved in some impressive after school activities too - debate, Model United Nations, student government are all good ideas. You want to come off as a well-rounded, hard-working, and smart person.
If you do really, really well in your next three years then you may get into a really good university. Remember, it's not the end of the world if you don't get in. Great colleges cost a great amount of money and you could be paying loans off until you're in your 50s. You could always go to a community college or a cheaper university for two years and then transfer to another university. You would save a lot of money that way and (in my opinion) get a better education because community colleges are generally smaller and you'd have more one-on-one attention.
Good luck.

How did you do in middle school? I'm not trying to put you and your dreams down but maybe theres a better fit for you than Oxford.
Freshman year is often an adjustment for most students. Buckle down! And make and keep a plan B( and C).
Good luck!

of course dude!
its just your first year....colleges will glimpse over that years report...but they know that your a frehmen and are getting adjusted to a new environment..they wont pay a huge amount of attention at 9th..
grade 10...you are now adjusted to your school and familiar with everything...you should be able to get good grades..classes are a little harder but totally manageable..colleges do look...but..not as much either.
grade 11 & 12...
colleges...definately pay attention to these two.
they stare at the papers...lol.
these would be the most important.
im not saying 9 and 10th you should be a slacker..
you definately have time. ^_^
dedication and time management are important.
if you are motivated enough..you will get your desired grades and be able to go to your choice of college.
another important thing....extracurricular activities...and community service...those are VERY important too...
lol....all this rambling...
:D Youll be fine

yes, you can get into a prestigious university..if you try improving your spelling first. anyway, universities like the University of the Philippines only looks at your grades from 3rd and 4th year of high school...so try doing good on those years. you're still only in your first year...you have another year to work on getting good grades by improving your study habits. remember, there's no such thing as slow and dumb students; but only lazy ones. so cheer up, exert a little effort in your studies, ask help from family or friends on how to do better in school (by the way, your school guidance counselor is there not only to lock herself in an office...seek her help!). good luck and God bless.:)

well if you're already doing poorly in 9th grade, a university such as oxford would probably be extremely difficult for you ... if you have just been slacking... pick up ur game and really work it for the rest of high school and do all u can with extracurriculars and all that... good luck

ALL of your grades matter. Seek extra help from your teachers. It's part of their job. Your high school years are the ones where you will have to work your butt off, especially if you intend to get into a prestigious school.
Good luck!

Try your best take extra coaching.
But if you have so much trouble now then plan on taking coaching at Oxford level also. Unless this intervention brings you up to date.
