There are no good excuses, just legitimate reasons.

Reasons to call in sick:
Shag the wife all day
Just want a veg day do nothing
Don't feel like getting out of bed
Stayed up late drinking
Excuses to tell your employer:
Oh I've been throwing up all night can't make it in.
My wife/GF is sick I had to take her to the hospital and was there until 3 in the morning works well if you had to work at 7:00am.
Using your best sore throat voice and just call in saying you feel terrible and make up some coughing too.
Chest infection Bronchitus expect to get almost a week off
get a Dr's note this would be for the real deal.
If you just want the day then just call in with a stomach flu or something as we all know 24hr bug.

Depends how many days you want. Go for something that could last a while or clear up after a day. To be honest, a stomach bug is always a good one. Some last less than 12 hours, some your looking at 3 days. Hope your boss isnt answering this question too! He is probably trying to attach your P45 right now! xx

Say you went to the dr and you have the new flu thats going around. He (he being your dr) said that if you go into work it will be a risk of outbreak of the flu in the office. ask if you can work from home. or if you can simply take the day off and reiterate how you are extremely sorry for any inconvenience and if there is anything you can do to make the situation better than it is.

I think the person needs to be sick enough that it will affect their ability to work, or if it is something contagious, not go to work and infect everyone else. If they have a little sniffles, then calling in sick is just an excuse, because they just did not want to go to work.

Tell'em your wife is planning on getting preggy and you figure that you might wanna stick around for that...I allways tell'em I gots the squirts and don't feel safe more than 6 ft. away from the toilet, works every time.-Wait- Better yet, tell'em your on the new Purina diet and everything was goin smooth till you got hit by a car while lickin yourself in the middle of the street! That ought to get'em...!

If you think you can manage to stick it out, do so. If you're at the point that you're going to hurl on your desk, though, you'd better get home before you aren't able to make the commute. Try to use your sick days for when you're really sick, especially if your boss is of the jerk variety.

1) I am not feeling well.
2) I feel under the weather.
3) My stomach is acting up.
and so on.

Call in sick early in the morning at the same time as you would wake up usually to go to work, so you show the intentions are real.

You could say that you have the flu (something going around) and you might even get a few days off if they believe you that is! But make sure you dont say that you've got something really drastic like chicken pox or neumonia or anything as bad as that or they definately wont believe you!
