I started letting the kids to open one present on Christmas Eve,it was new pjs. They got excited, and had new pjs to make Christmas pictures in. I would show the kids the north star, then read the story of Jesus birth.

We get a tape recorder out and every year we sing songs and tell Christmas stories and poems. We started this when we were babies and now I am 27 and every year we listen to old tapes, when we were little, and we can hear my grandpa (who has passed away) and our little voices on the recorder. We always start the tape with a quick recording of what we did that year (started college, got married, started a new job, had a baby, had surgery, etc...). It is a wonderful tradition we look forward to each year!

Every Christmas Eve, we all go out to this beautiful little place in the countryside where it really feels like Christmas. We have a meal and go for a walk, and there are always Christmas trees lining the streets, its really beautiful.
And I dont know if it really counts as a tradition, but we always open the smallest present first and go on to the largest.

We see a movie every Christmas eve. It is great to get you in the spirit! On the day wake up and open gifts and then meet the family for a huge Christmas dinner. And we always have a fantastic time.

They celebrate St. Lucia. And part of this holiday I know involves a woman wearing a wreath on her head with candles sticking out of it. But I don't know any more than that. Do some research on St. Lucia, it is the biggest winter holiday in Sweden and is equivalent to our Christmas as far as festivities go

My Mom and I make up a BUNCH of different kinds of cookies and candies..at a half dozen of each kind.. and make up goody boxes that we give to our family and friends..I have no idea how long my Mom has been doing it..I asked her once and she said that she can't remember it has been so long...It's a lot of work, and costs a lot of money, and take quite a bit of time..but we love it and it's worth it..I hope you and your family and friends have a wonderful Christmas and a Holiday season filled with many PEACEful moments...;0)
