fake or real, it depends on your mood ....I just bought a fake tree on sale , orginally $350.00 for 50 bucks....couldn't get a cut tree for that....so fake I guess and it was prelite...no untangling lights and replacing burnt out bulbs...job I hate....

I used to believe in real trees, until I had to vacuum up needles. Now, after moving a lot, I have a small tabletop fake tree. 7 years ago it was $30. No money since then spent on it. Still has the lights and I have my own ornaments or people give them to me as gifts. So really, I maybe have spent $20 on it in the past 7 years.

I bought a fake tree last year and it's a really good looking one with snow and fircones on, It should have been £50 and I paid £12 for it. I am using the same decorations from last year, Purple and Silver because they look lovely.

Fake tree because the lights are already on it and I don't have to mess with that part. Spent over $500 so far just on presents (7 people). Love to be able to do this. I enjoyed the shopping day after Thanksgiving with my daughter.

I have a real tree in a pot that i keep in the garden through the rest of the year. This will be the 5th year i have used it. It cost me about £20.00 the first year plus about £10.00 for the pot. i like the pine smell of a real tree, and at least this way they dont get thrown away plus a rooted live tree does not drop many needles. When they get too big for the house I plant them out in the garden.

I bought a good quality fake tree over 10 years ago now and I still use it. I also still have the same decorations. I clean them and pack them away each year and they are still as good as new. I haven't had the same luck with lights though, so I expect I'll be buying more again this year!!!!!!

A real tree is cheaper than a fake one. A fake one that looks real could cost $400.
A real one, that you have for a few weeks and then throw away, costs maybe $30 or $40.

My preference is real. They smell better, are grown just for this purpose, so it doesn't harm the forest, etc. I haven't got mine yet this year, but they are usually around $50 or $60. I won't spend anything on decorations, because I keep mine in boxes in the attic, and bring them out every year. If I had to add it up, I would say I have around $500 worth of ornaments, but I have been collecting them for the last 17 years, and many have been gifts.

I'll vote for a real one, because you can't compare the smell of a real one with anything and besides a fake one is soo perfect and I don't like that. I could tell you about the price, but I'm not from USA, so I don't think it will be useful.
