Actually, if you like comedies, I'll recommend something you can find on the shelves of rental stores. It is a black and white movie called "Arsenic and Old Lace" starring Cary Grant.
This movie is drop-dead hilarious - but it is outside of your time range.
For more modern side-splitting comedies, try "Victor, Victoria" with James Garner and Julie Andrews. While some folks dislike his style, Mel Brooks made a movie called "Young Frankenstein" that I consider a true gem. There is also the very pleasant "Galaxy Quest" with Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver. (So she's a babe! Who knew?)
One that is harder to find and again is outside of your time limit is "Lust in the Dust" with Tab Hunter and Divine. Plus Caesar Romero and Lanie Kazan. I honestly thought I was going to die laughing at some parts. We are talking red in the face, coughing, choking, and shortness of breath through laughter. Be warned that it is considered an adult film because it includes several sexual themes. Having warned you, I can say that it is a real hoot.
