where did this whole "the worlds gonna end in 2012" idea come from?
and how did they come about this theory

just curious

It think it focus on the Mayans and then some others that put their two cents worth in. It has foundation as I believe the planets all align around that time and it felt this may cause some major events (Maybe from a Gravity thing).

december 12 i think is the month and day in the year 2012 is when the mayan calender runs out and they have never been off on any of their predictions for more than a few seconds

The end of the world has been predicted by various nutcases since the beginning of human existence. Of course the world will end eventually but the time frame is in the order of two billion years (when our sun goes supernova). People who predict specific dates are unhinged intellectually, but if humanity exists for long enough someone, someday will be right.

My own idea ;there is to be some money tied up in it somewhere
It belongs to one of these standard stock fillers when real news is scarce

The mayans first calculated that (and they were pretty good at making astronomical calculations.) In my opinion with all these nuclear wars poverty,and other bad things we really will die on Dec. 21 2012
