Both Jesus and John the Baptist were monastic. They are not in it to advertise themselves... that kind of adoration happened after they were gone. Remember, he referred to his disciples as his "brothers" just after the crucifixion.

If you want to understand why he left no image, you have to consider the type of knowlege expressed in the Original Kingdom Gospel... about the "treasure hid in a field."

This resource will explain the whole thing.

We are supposed to be the image of GOD by the way we live our lives. That is my belief. Look in the mirror & look at how you live your life & you can decide for yourself if GOD has left his image with you. You may or may not like what you see or feel but that's ok too.

Hah! What about the Shroud of Turin?

It's curious how the image on the shroud depicts the same person that so many later artists depicted. I think it is just another piece of fantasy art. :)
