I'm not sure of the laws in every state...but some will allow you to run an ad in the local newspaper of the last known address. You have to run the ad for no less than thirty days- stating your name, her name, and your intentions of divorce...if after thirty days it is not contested then you get your divorce through the local courts. You may want to research your local laws- they all have little loop holes such as this one, you just have to find them.

Fairly simple, but speak to a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction.
File for divorce just as though you knew where she lived.
Per your local court rules, have the notice of divorce filing published in your local newspaper or publication that the Court recognizes as the Publication of Record.
Wait the prescribed period of time- depends on your local court- 30 days.
File a Motion with the Court notifying the Court that you do not know where she lives, you have complied with local court rules about notice of the divorce.
The court will likely grant the divorce after complying with these rules*
Remember the local rules dictate exactly how this is done. It is not unusual for people to get divorces this way as their spouses are often gone, disappeared....
Hope this helps- call a lawyer- even if only for a consultation. May cost you a $150.00 but it will be worth it!!
Trust me, I am a lawyer!!!!!

hi there, I must agree with southern, I have had to do this before myself. What I did was I put an add in the paper for 30 days, he had no idea because I put it into our local Ody new paper that's very legal and all locals that are looking for lets say a good yard sale or whats happening in your local community all kinds of strange things that they advertise in this particular news paper is very legal. I did this knowing he would never go to such a news paper as his type of news paper is more on the lines of the Washington Post. Now I ask my lawyer first before I did so. And he said go for it reasons being is that this particular news paper most all read in the local area as their interest are for the locals reading this news paper are interested in looking for anything like the obituaries to legal issues. So, why he was looking in the main biggie of our news papers I put mine in two different types of news papers that covered our whole community but the other one I put in another county of the same state. Also what worked for me when I put his name in the other news paper I put it under missing section and would reward if they found my lost dog! Sorry if this hurts but it worked....

You file for divorce and explain that she can't be found. After a court ordered period of time, they will grant you a divorce without her. Talk to a lawyer. This is not that unusual and it will be taken care of.

Do you know any of her friends/family? You might be able to ask them. If they don't want to tell you where she is ask them to give her a message or tell your lawyer or private eye that her friends/family know where she is and let them find her. That's what you are paying them for. Sounds like you need a different private eye.
