If you like the cold go skating, go to a movie, play some board games, watch a movie as a family, go swimming, go sledding if you get snow. Consider taking up a hobbie as a family, karate, model boat racing or plane flying. Really your boy is going to have different interest then your young daughter. Maybe let dad and son go do the boy stuff and you bond with the daughter then join up and do something together.

Get them involved in family things. Baking cookies, let them decorate them. Wrapping Christmas gifts for adults, let them hold the paper together until you can tape it. Make a game out of picking up toys, dusting , folding the laundry. You can't always take them somewhere you have to find things to do at home too. The 2 year old is too young for most board games but coloring is a good idea. Kids love to help with household chores (at that age). Let them dry plastic dishes (glasses) and spoons (they can't get hurt on a spoon. Make hot chocolate and let them put the marshmallows in. You just have to think of fun things that don't cost you much money. They can tear up lettuce for salads, fluff throw cushions. Make a tent out of blankets or sheets and camp out in the living room. Get an oil lamp or two for light(the moon) and read them stories by the light of the moon. My kids loved that. Picnic with finger foods so as not to ruin the carpet (crackers, cheese, celery carrots etc.) it won't hurt just once in a while not to have a hot meal. Give them things to remember, so many kids these days think their parents don't love them because they never spent time with them. Make memories.

Hi there. I have 2 boys (5 & 2). Usually what my wife and I do is try to spend a lot of time bonding. I play a lot with them. We take walks or go to the library. We get movies. We build a tent in the middle of our living room. We build a fort..anyways,,what I'm trying to say is that my wife and I become children on Saturday and Sunday,,after all MONDAY is coming and then everybody begins the hidious routine. HAVE Fun,,,that's my only advice,,,Laugh a lot,,hug them...Be a pirate. Be an elephant,,,,Have fun!

Go to the zoo. My daughter's family does this and all of them just love it. On the way home and when at home there is so much to talk about. If you have on 50 to 70 miles away from home, it doesn't take too long to get there and well worth it.

Do you have any parks in the area? You could go on a picnic. If they have any cool state parks, it's often fun to go on a nature walk.
If it's too cold, maybe you could have an indoor picnic.

Go to the LIBRARY!!! Go get some wigs, shoes and "costumes" from your local Salvation Army (or a like store) and act out their favorite book/movie! Cook dinner together! Make green, blue and read pancakes!!!You and your husband take turns reading books (together) to the kids or both read and be the different characters-act out the book!; get out the finger paints; cut pictures from magazines and glue them to 3x5 cards and mail them to relatives; take pictures outside and let your kids help load them onto the computer. Remember, a child can learn ANYTHING YOU have the PATIENCE to teach them! Play scrabble and give them their favorite book to help them find words (yes, even the 2 year old). DANCE!!!! It's fun and great exercise! Get balloons and play with them! Color them! make feet and make "people" with them then play BOWLING inside with them! COLOR!!! Crayons, markers, colored pencils! My kids favorites were the colored pensils that are ALSO paints!!!!!! Read, read read! Go visit relatives or freinds that you really never see but always wonder about every day! GO TO THE PARK!!!! Yeah! Make paper boats and float them! Tons of fun!!!!! Climb trees! Make a fort in the house! Make a fort in the back yard! Paint each others' faces! (so much fun when we did this camping ALL of our friends AND their kids joined in! Makes GREAT memory pics too!); Play DOMINOES!!!! (even little kids can match the dominoes, don't worry about keeping score!) Play chutes & ladders! Make flash cards together and then flash the kids to help them learn! TUMBLE! SOmmer-salts, back bends (you can't be THAT OLD!) standing on your heads or hands!!!!! Exercise! Get a fun/dance exercise tape/cd at the Walmart (1.00 at some places!!!) Fun and healthy!!!!! CLEAN!!! Cleaning can be fun for kids if you make it a "competition!" Go get a "kids stuff to do magazine" for ideas. And, one of my most memorable nights....get 4x6 index cards, put newspaper all over the floor, PAINT their FEET and hands and make "postcards" from them!!!!!!! We mailed ours out and you wouldn't believe how many relatives CALLED to say how much they enjoyed a "piece" of the family!!! Plus, I kept one of each hand and foot in our photo album and I look at them at least once a year and....what a great night! Giggles, laughs, fun! Do rubbings (leaves, tree bark, etc!) they make great cards too! (cut the rubbing about 1/2 inch smaller than a blank card and glue it to it...makes it look "framed that way!") STAR gaze!!!!!!! It's been a lovely sky to behold!!!!! Library. Library. Library, LOL! OHHH!!!! Get some BIG cardboard from the back of furniture stores and make your own "highways"...get some play cars and drive all over the house!!!!! make a BIG box fort! Especially if you have a cat! The cat will love to join in!!! SING!!!!! My whole family loves "Arista-Cats" from the Disney movie!! Gets us all dancing and singing and laughing!!! Make your own pull toys from the cardboard you get and string!! Get those things that let the wheels go around from the craft or office supply stores (sorry, don't know what they are called!!!) Make GIANT bead necklaces, bracelets (only because the kids are little use the GIANT beads! Play leggo!!!! Play tonka toys!!!!
