Lets go through the steps:
1) Add all the numbers together:
10+15+8+5+7 = 45
2) Find how many students had tuna.... 15 students!
15/45 students had tuna (15 are the people who had tuna, 45 are the total number of people)
3) Now simplify! 15/45 are both divisible by 15 so...
15 divided by 15 = 1
45 divided by 15 = 3
4) The answer is 1/3!
Hope this helps! :)

First add the total that brought salads, in this case 45. That means that 15 of the 45 salads were tuna. If you divide top and bottom by a common number, in this case 15 you end up with 1 in 3.

Oh this is a math question. I thought you were serious about the fifth graders. lol. Well, there are 45 in total right. 15 of those 45 brought tuna salad. ok. 15/45= .333... That is 1/3. SO 1/3 of the students brought tuna salad. ok

Cobb - 10 students
Tuna - 15 students
Chicken - 8 students
Greek - 5 students
Patato - 7 students
add 10+15+8+5+7 to get the total of students that bought salad at lunch
= 45
15 student bought salad
the fraction of students that bought tuna salad will be
students that bought tuna salad
divided by
total number of student that bought salad
15/45
when reduced will give you
1/3
answer "c"
hope that helps.

The answer would be (number of students who bought tuna) / (total number of students)
15 bought tuna salad
45 total students (10+15+8+5+7 = 45)
So it is 15/45, but we need to reduce that, so the final answer is 1/3.

C,
you add up all of the students and come up with
45
then you put 15 students for tuna as the numerator and 45 students total as the denominator and then the fractions converts first down 1/3

First, add up all the students: 10+15+8+5+7=45 students total
Second, 15 students got tuna, so you have a fraction of 15/45.
Third, none of the answers have a denominator of 45, so simplify: (15/15)/(45/15)=1/3
The answer is one-third, or C
