I'm with "paul h" on this one. I have owned Toro mowers, weed eaters, and snow blowers for many years. Other than routine maintainance, I have never had problems with any Toro product. They carry a premium price, but in this case, you get what you pay for.

Good luck with your snow blower selection.

I prefer Toro products....I have a model S200 that's around 20 years old, electric start and it throws snow like nobody's business....it's a paddle type blower with no chute to clog and cleans down to the concrete, lightweight enough to pick up and put down where you want it, easy to use with one hand. The great thing was I got it from a neighbor for fixing his other one so it's free other than replacing a starter gear and a few vanes. I see them every once in a while on Ebay. Sadly, it's not made anymore but the newer ones are similiar except they have a chute which most newer blowers do. Somewhat heavier too. For light snow it's great...even up to 8-10 inches deep, it works pretty good. For real heavy stuff, I have a backup Murray 8hp, 26 inch cut, two-stage that I bought at Menards several years ago that's been real good.
It's a good idea to change oil and put in fresh fuel and maybe a spark plug before each season...prestart it a few weeks before the snow flies or have it checked over.
Consumer Reports may have ratings for snowblowers....check out a library or bookstore. Talk to other people in the neighborhood that own one....worst thing is to buy a unit that doesn't perform well so do your homework.

Look at the engine brand as well as the snow blower. I have bad luck with briggs & stratton.
