Depends on the dealership. If its an 06 mercedes then they will. But they have no obligation to loan you a vehicle even if the repairs are warranty. Most good shops have a shuttle van service that will take you where you need to go as courtesy.

No, BUT! you can call them up and say that yesterday or last week when you bought it there was no conversation saying that the car may break down. You were lead to beleive that this car was repaired and in working order and the least they can do is give you a leased car. Im sure there is an org that you can threaten to report this to if they give you a hard time.

Not unless you negotiated that upfront. However, a good dealer, (and I'm assuming this is a new car dealership as well who has loaner cars for their service dept), would be wise to try to make you happy and keep you as a long term customer.
If the service is due to a breakdown of the new used car you have a better case. If it's just for routine service your most likely s.o.l.

No. It is not their job to give you a loaner.
Some offer such services to draw in customers. But you do pay for it in hidden areas. Some offer a discounted rate on a rental car say through Enterprise.
But no where is it written that a service dept. has to give you a loaner car. This action is actually fairly new in the auto industry and did not exist just 10 yrs ago.

i am a manager of an auto dealership in the united states. they are not obligated at all to give you a loaner car. the only exception is if you purchased an extended warrenty that provides for a rent car on major repairs. sorry.

I'm afraid its not a requirement (not as far as i know anyway) although most reputible dealerships will, especially if its under warranty or if its a big repair that will not be done by the end of the day. it just depends.

you need to ask for the loaner car ! if your car warranty covers rentals /loners it should cost you nothing !
usually dealerships will supply this service at no charge
