What forecasting methods are used at your organization? Who does the forecasting? What is forecasted? What should be forecasted?

I work for a defense contractor. Based on our knowledge of existing and upcoming government contracts, our own subcontracting needs, and the subcontracting needs of our competitors, our corporate sector forecasts workloads for a year or more in advance. Any given company should forecast whatever information they want to know for future dates.
