I'm really strapped for cash and I'm looking for ideas of things that I can get the people in my family. I'm pretty handy and I can make stuff with my hands. Any ideas would be a big help THANKS!

I don't know if your family is into feeding the birds but a few years back one of my sons made me a terrific bird feeder. To me that was great gift because he took the time to make it with his own hands. Or, a memory book with a few photographs and some humorous or touching words surrounding the pictures would be nice. You can use your imagination and get some colorful paper to make each page special. Using your computer you can add all sorts of interesting text, etc. . If you draw, you could draw something special that would mean something to the person you are giving it to..

Without knowing the age and tastes of the family members, its a little harder for me to make suggestions but these are just a couple of ideas. You can also get some attractive beads at craft stores and it's fairly easy and inexpensive to make earrings or a bracelet for a girl.

One popular thing is you could make a cookie or hot cocoa mix and put in a jar then tie a red ribbon on it.

Try buying a Better Home and Garden magazine. They have some things in there you can make that women might like, for example they made christmas ornaments into vases and such.

For men go to your local craft store and see what you can dig up. Maybe you could make a novelty coat rack or something like that.

Hope I helped, good luck.

try a wood burning. You can get a good burning pen at most craft stores for around 12.00, and a small plaque or plank of wood for cheaper (tip: Take a look at a lumberyard scrap pile. Most of the times you find good woods at severely discounted prices). Sketch out your design on a piece of paper, then play and practice with the burning pen to see which tips do what, and when you're ready, copy your design onto the final board (if you want to stain it, stain BEFORE you burn), trace it with the burning pen, and seal it with Verathane (sic) or similar, and you have a unique, home-made gift for dirt cheap.

Try no-sew fleece blankets.
Fleece is on sale this time of year, and they go together rather quickly.
