Why is Hispanic immigration about a "culture war" for socially conservative (largely white) Americans? Hispanic cultures are usually conservative themselves, with conservative Christian (Catholic) values including family values. I honestly want to know what their complaints are- I mean just in terms of culture, not economics. If I were socially conservative I think I would welcome them??

Its because white people can't compete with Hispanics (who work for 2 pesos an hour). And it can get aggravating for them.

I do feel a lot of conservative whites tend to be a little too hostile and racist, that IS true, but on the flip side of the coin a lot of hispanic immigrants have zero respect for anybody in the USA. Not all of them, but a lot of them are so racist against white people (though majority have white/european in them as well) and a lot of them don't bother to learn english.

I think culturally, its great they keep their culture, use their language at gettogethers and gatherings and in hispanic social settings, but in public settings, a lot of them use spanish to talk about other people and its disrespectful.

If they'd learn a little respect and a little less "i'm better than you attitude", which I've seen a lot, then maybe they'd be more accepted. I'm not saying ALL hispanics are as I described (because then I'd be saying that my father, his family, and some of my best friends are like that), but I will say a lot of them ARE like that.

Oh, and yes, if someone comes here legally, hispanic or not, fine. But illegal immigrants have no right to be here whatsoever, sorry.

You have to give respect to earn it.

To be conservative means to be suspicious of and resistant to change, even if the change may have positive effects. Immigration is one thing that can cause change, regardless of where the immigrants come from. In previous decades, "scary" immigrant groups were those of Irish or Eastern European descent, for example.

On the other side of the coin, many immigrant groups are conservative as well, such as those who wish to maintain a strong cultural identity separate from that prevailing in the country where they presently live.

The biggest problem is they have short memory's, they forget that most of them are only 2ND,3rd,4Th generations. The white people practically eliminated the brown skinned people of north America, now they are coming back and will soon out number the white people, this scares them! In a hundred years they will be back in charge, full circle! Brown skinned "Hispanics" are native Americans!!

It is the ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION US citizens both born and raised and NATURALIZED do not like.

Apply for an immigration visa IN YOUR COUNTRY, wait in line and come here legally and you will be welcomed.

Sneak in, you are a criminal and will be treated as such.

The "culture war" is waged against those who violate our laws, refuse to assimilate, and those who expect US to accomodate them.

It is not any legal immigrants that present problems for our nation. It is "illegal immigrants" that cause numerous problems to the economy and safety of any nation.
