I looked at myself in the mirror and said, "I'm going to die tonight."
Suicide.

I had a go-kart accident too! A bad one. It was Christmas day and my cousin who lived down the street got a used cart as a present. Apparently the brakes were faulty because I wasn't able to slow down coming downhill. I hit the concrete gutter at the bottom of a long hill. I flipped on impact, the cart on top of me. There was no seat belt and I wasn't wearing a helmet. I got up, pushed the cart off me, ran in a circle for about 15 seconds screaming, and then dropped to the ground, unable to walk for 4 days. I've got a few burn scars and nerve damage left from it. You could stick a fork in the back of my right calf and I wouldn't feel a thing.
I also nearly died from pneumonia at 2, tried to walk off the side of a mountain at 3 (so I'm told) and been in a car accident where if I had traded seats with the passenger, I'd have had my feet amputated (luckily she was 11 inches shorter than me so all she lost was a pair platform boots).

Probably under the knife... which really wasn't close to death, but it felt like it. I woke up. And the weird thing is that I couldn't see; all I could do is hear and speak. Strange. All I remember being asked was how I felt, and all I could say was I couldn't breathe... Imagine taking the slightest breath you can take. Then imagine all of the muscles in your upper chest were cut through and there's a titanium bar beneath that.
Next thing I remember was being rolled out of the elevator and into my hospital bed. I didn't get on my morphine for a few hours, and I felt more pain then than I ever did in my life.
A day later I try and sit up, but give up in utter frustration and begin crying over the pain.
But surgery was worth it in the long run.

Pretty close, on numerous occasions. The first (or second if you count my mom almost getting hit by a car when she was pregnant with me as first) was when I was being born. The umbulical cord was wrapped around my neck, and I was literally blue in the face before the doctors could remove it. Another time was when the car I was riding in got hit by another car. I think I was about 3 or 4 at the time. I remember my head was hurting like a m'f'er for a while afterwards.

When I gave birth to my second daughter, (8 years ago) my body seemed to be not liking labor this time. After the baby was born, my heart rate shot up, along with things like my temp & blood pressure. They hooked me up to a resperiator, and I remember hearing the Dr. tell my husband I might not make it. Finally, I pulled through, but I was VERY VERY close. But I took it as a learning experience: Life is a gift no matter what shape or form. I actually just had another baby girl very recently, (8 months ago) and things went great. I am a lucky, lucky woman.

I was in a serious car wreck in Branson, MO, USA. I lived off of the main strip next to Silver Dollar City Amusement Park. It is on the side of Mt. Branson. To the left there was a top of a hill, that I can not see over. I proceeded to make a left turn, and a truck hauling golf carts came speeding down the hill (going 70 mph according to the police, Speed limit was 40). He swerved into the opposite lane to avoid me, but he rammed the front of my car at full speed. My radiator was shoved all the way up to the cab of the car. The police said I was lucky I had my seat belt on because my brains could have ended up all over the windshield. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Wow. I had surgery to remove my adenoids when I was 6. The doctor gave me an overdose of anesthesia and I stopped breathing. They couldn't get me breathing for a long time and I came VERY close to dying. I also almost lost my middle and ring fingers when I was 9...they were crushed in a 300 pound firedoor.

I was sitting at a red light and than it turned green. i hesitated for a second and next thing you know a guy in a huge SUV came barreling down the road and ran the red light. If i had gone thru the light the sec it turned green i would have been a goner.

I think anyone that has ever ridden in a motor vehicle has come close to death. Sleeping, too, but even closer? I've been there many times. I had anorexia and bulimia for years and had a heart attack. Technically, I died. I almost died from bacterial meningitis when I was only a month old, too. My folks had to call a priest in the middle of the night to baptize me. I also tried to kill myself once and was in a coma for two days. Good times.

Very close,I was given Penicillin which I'm allergic to and I had anaphylaxis shock,I only just pulled through.I did actually leave my body and was looking down on myself, which is something I always doubted had happened to other people but now I know it's true.
