i want to write a paper on biotechnology, but i do not know how to narrow this down to a specific...?

hi, i want to write a paper within the theme of biotechnology, but i am having difficulty narrowing it down to a specific topin within biotechnology....any suggestions?

The best paper will be one you are interested in.

I have seen some pretty wierd papers over the years.

One student really liked video games an wrote a paper on video screen made from bio-molecules. Another liked gardening and wrote about genetically engineered blue roses. ANother like coffee, and wrote about how a company had altered the coffee plants to make decaf.

If you are into more conventional bio topics, almost any disease you can think of is being attacked by biotech. If that doesn;t interest you, two cool environmental topics that are very relevent but don;t get much press are phytoremediation - using plants to remove toxins from the ground to clean them up, and second generation bio-ethanol from waste cellulose.

Try not to dread it too much and have fun with it. It's worth a try.

Stem cell research, including embryonic, adult, and the latest discovery that it is possible to manipulate an adult skin cell to act like an embryonic stem cell.

Animal cloning.

Other kinds of genetic engineering, like taking genes from jellyfish and putting them into plants to make them glow in the dark.

Genetically modified food, like vitamin A enriched rice.

Gene therapy used to attempt to treat genetic illnesses.
