Cashier. I don't really understand the self checkout well enough to enjoy using it.

There are 2 wal-marts near me. I will only go the one without self-checkout at certain times of the day when I know the lines are not long and when I'm only getting a few things. Otherwise, I go to the one with self-checkout.
bellaisa, I feel bad when the cashier is looking at me like she wants me to come to her line, but I'm heading to the self-checkout instead. It's like they know their jobs are at stake.

Self checkout, because that way I can bag my own things and know that they're not put in the wrong bags together (ie: bread with soup cans) as they normally are when a cashier has a bagger.

it depends. I can tell if someone is friendly or not, by their facial expressions and my own intuition.
so if the cashier is cranky, i'll go to the self checkout. if the self checkout person (the person who watches the self checkout) is cranky, then I'll go to the cashier.
but my preference is usually the self checkout.
