Ive been back and forth on shadow people for the past couple of years. I have seen them a few times, and know other who have also. If you have seen them, then I am sure you will agree that the given explainations do not really fit the actual phenomena.
They often appear in front of people, not in the periferal vision. They often appear in broad daylight and often cant be brushed off as just shadows. They also sometimes interact to some extent with the person seeing them.
Most often they are seen walking down a hallway and or turning into a room. They can be seen moving through walls, in side view, away from the viewer, or walk into a room right in front of the viewer and disappear.
Here is my natural explaintion. I grew up with chronic sleep paralysis, which is closely linked with narcalepsy, although I have never had full blown narcalepsy. But my experience with weird hallucinations which are caused by sleep deprivation, or sleep paralysis lead me to believe that shadow men are creations of the mind.
The dream mechanism can be triggered when someone is fully conscience, its happened to me a number of times.
I believe the shadow man phenomena is linked to the dream mechanism triggering for a moment while someone is awake.
Like sleep paralysis, there would be some very common experiences in this, and I believe that common experience is the projection of a shadowy figure which looks like a man.
Anyway, thats the conclusion Ive come to over the past couple of years.
I used to think they were real demons, or spirits, but then again, I used to think that about sleep paralysis too.

Shadow people (also known as shadow men, shadow folk, or shadow beings) are said to be shadow like creatures of supernatural origin that appear as dark forms in the peripheries of people's vision and disintegrate, or move between walls, when noticed.

Some people believe they are creatures that live in places that isnt used in a long time or deserted. In some cultures it is even said that they might be a "race" that live in another plane/dimension.

Other than really creepy, I think they are evil spirits. Why do they seem to know that you have seen them, and why do they run away once seen by you? They look blacker than a shadow, like painted black. Some say that they are 2 dimensional beings or from another dimension. Maybe another type of ghost. Regular ghosts don't creep me out like shadow people do. I sense evil around them, a feeling of dread.
