would you still seek it out?

You may be seeking it out now without knowing it. Honestly, many people seek out things they have not heard of. Even if you do not know what to call it, you constantly seek truth, belongingness, achievement, and self-actualization. These are all names we have given to things we were already chasing.

My answer to your question is this.
Have you ever chanced on finding a gizmo in the stores, turned it around and around in your hands, asked what is it for, and finally say "I have been looking for something like this forever".
"Now someone had finally invented it"

Most of us probably shop for that reason, hoping to find new things that replace old contraptions that we have at home.

It wouldn't matter as we already have all of life's knowledge contained in our mind when we're born.

We don't hear of something for the first time we 'recollect' it.
