Obviously the real poor aren't here and don't have a voice. Very good question.
Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).

Those people can't afford a computer and need someone else to speak for them
People need to keep in mind when posting here or on another website the population is not representative and the poorest of us don't have a voice. Great question

It would be very hard to improve on the answer that justgoodfolk gave to this question. However, I'll throw my two cents in.
I have thought about what you're asking about before. And the inescapable truth is that YA is not representative of the people of the world. Many of them have a daily struggle to just survive. To see poverty at it's worse is a horrible thing compared to how well a person of the middle class in the First World lives.
That fact should always be kept in mind when answering or asking certain questions here on YA Politics. Realizing the state of the world's poor, brings a different perspective to how one views the world. I get the impression that a lot of people around here don't realize it, don't care, or try to forget about it. And it affects a lot of their political views for the worse.

poor- i fall below the federal income guidelines, earning just under $1K a month for a family of three. but i have an immediate family of over 25 people. am i poor?
uneducated-i graduated from high school, but was unable to continue my formal education. i qualify for mensa membership. am i uneducated?
unhealthy-i smoke, am overweight, and have an exciting variety of almost-issues. I'm assuredly not healthy!:P
btw, armywife is a serious b*tch. i mean, whoa. and how do you like her supposed "familiarity" with the poor? Shut up already. I live in the projects, and no one but NO ONE has twocars...that both run. "Those who really need help" according to who?Your profoundly ignorant perception of the needs of those in poverty? Give. Me. A. Break.

I don't know what your laptop cost you, all the accesories that are going bongers for me now... the TV playing VTech & Boston College on flat screen... or what is in your fridge or wallet. Never poor in spirit. Balance of politics on YA pages? Some days the exchange is poor, unhealthy & uneducated. The debate continues... that's the draw at my house. Putting off moving one more day? Priceless!!!

Well, I am poor, I won't lie to you, I don't consider myself uneducated by any sense nor am I unhealthy or a rabblerouser, so what is that to you here? If folks are searching for something, then why not come here and ask about it so long as it's something that folks can answer to?

I'm fairly certain that if we were wealthy we would be jerking off elsewhere on the weekend shopping or such. There is certainly no lack of ignorance on this site in spite of formal education and seeing the state of health care and obesity in America I suspect many of us will die from preventable disease. That being said, our basic needs must be being met or we wouldn't be here bickering. The local bum or hop head is not represented on YA!
Basically we spend all day preaching to the choir while the sinners rape and pillage.

Unhealthy - probably unstable. I mean we spend our free time lobbing hand grenades at each other.
Poor, unlikely. Broadband and computers all around, for the most part.
Uneducated - some obviously not beyond High School. Others have one or more sheepskins about.

uneducated does not necessarily mean poor. i am willing to bet that most are self made, albeit horrible spellers. i wonder how many can actually post without hitting the check spelling box? ooohh... good question! as far as capitalization goes, i give props to the kids, it's faster not doing it!
unhealthy... it's probably unhealthy to be wasting time on this forum.
me... i'm in it for the entertainment factor until i have healed from back surgery. nope... no car accident, it's called injury due to working hard.
after the dr. gives me the a-ok, i'm out-a-here to let you losers continue your pathetic lives! aww heck, i'm sorry. did i hurt anyones feelings?
but i must say, this does help the hours go by :) and i am enjoying pissing a few folks off while i'm at it! wish i could ROTF but i'm laughing none the less!
p.s. Stormy, I'm not a b*tch, i already told you i'm here for the entertainment factor. oh, um... geeze, i should have checked my calender... seems i'm suffering from some PMS afterall...

I'm sure their are. Under what the Government consider as poor,uneducated and unhealthy people,they are aloud computers,4 tv's,2 cars,a boat,diamonds,gold teeth,gold necklaces,etc.
All those that the rest of the world considers poor would love to be considered poor here.
