Okay, I just wanted to share this with the masses. Last night I tried Liquid Plumber, Drano and another Lowe's off-brand. I called my home warranty company and they suggested this home remedy. It worked amazingly! First take a cup of salt and cup of baking soda and put them into the drain. Try first to make sure most of the dirty water is removed from the basin of the sink. They immediately pour into the mix a cup of vinegar. Any vinegar will do. Wait for 15 minutes. Not much happened after that except for a little fizzing. After 15 minutes pour a bunch of boiling water into the sink and watch after the garbage disposal is turned on and the clog is torn free. Don't bother wasting your money like I did on the chemical solutions. The house sinks and you end up ruining your work shirt. Anyway, I hope you remember this one.

P.S. The visiting mother-in-law did the clogging. My wife already knows where I stand on using the drain as a trash disposal.

Thanks for sharing that. It's the kind of information we can all use. The best part is that it doesn't harm the environment.

EDIT:

I think I'm going to do this monthly to avoid clogged drains in the first place.

and you could've rodded it in 5 minutes! better idea: don't put anything down the drain, just remove the clog.
