Sounds like a non-issue. It's a nice tradition to play the national anthem, but skipping it once during a thunderstorm is hardly a catastrophe.

I served in the military, and the national anthem was played at 5pm everyday, while the base flag was lowered. Every car and pedestrian on base was required to stop, and those in uniform to stand at attention or salute. You've never seen people run like GIs caught outside at 4:59pm. They'd knock over grandmothers to get inside before the music starts--especially if its raining. Don't confuse the trappings of patriotism with the real thing.

I think it's lame.I understand there was a storm but they still went on with the game so why not take a couple minutes out to sing the song.

And as the person above described how people on base would have to drop everything and sing the song why couldn't the people do the same?
