Sadly Yes. I feel very strongly about the illegal resident situation and live in the heart of it. I'm white and the minority where I'm at. I am treated poorly by the Mexican community and am tired of the women maipulating the welfare sytem and having lots of babies. They don't marry yet living with the Fathers or with a significant male, yet telling well fare programs (WIC,FoodStamps, and financial aid) that they have no additional income. Their men are encouraging this so they too can reap the benefits of this proceeds. I recently found out about a state funded organization that is excepting photo copies of social security cards for hiring purposes. This one lady threw a hissy fit when I told her she had to produce a social security card. She claimed to be working for In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) for 20 years now and that all they ever required was a photo copy of her social security card. Something that is easily altered, and Why am I not surprised that IHSS"s staff is almost completely Mexican. At this rate there will be no funds for Social Security by the time our kids or grand kids are old enough for it. I see these 3RD world citizens both legal and illegal slowly turning or country into a third world nation it's self. Still, I have terminal cancer and live off a fixed income. I have to go where the best deals are. In my defense, I do vote and try to make a difference where I can. Mine is one small voice. I wish more would speak up. God bless the minuteman project.

Shylock,
You seem to mention a lot on illegal labor. what are you getting at? I enjoy Walmart. I remember my late father saying that Walmart cut out all the little businesses around, and he had a valid point. as for the issue you mention, that's a dicey one to tamper with. since both of my parents came to this country as immigrants, I feel bad that folks have to resort to getting into this country any way they can in search of a better opportunity. Does that make it right? or wrong? that is not up to me. If such practices are going on, then incentives and allowances should be made so that they can be legal in this country.

Wal Mart is doing pretty much the same as all other retailers do. Just about everything is made off shore now days. You can bet K Mart and Target imports goods from third world countries that don't exactly play by our rules too. It's unavoidable.

I don't think I've been to a Walmart since 1996...

I saw how they immediately shut down my neighbor's small business and I've never been back.

They actually planted people on our city commission to make all the traffic in our area lead automatically to Walmart.

Bunch of sleeze bags...

Crime went up by 300% on the side of town they built the Walmart on.

The good that company does, far outweighs its oversights, not to mention the corrections to those oversights. But let's leave out the corrections of their errors because after all it's more important to hammer away and try to destroy a profitable company legally engaging in a business in a capitalist society.

PS, the illegals were hired by a subcontractor of WalMart. So it is not, as you are suggesting, that illegals are working as cashiers or stock clerk, etc. Nice try though.

No, I actually haven't been to Wal-Mart in almost a year because they treat their employees like sh!t. I didn't know about the illegal issue until now, but I can only imagine how thjose people are being treated.

It's hard not to when everybody is on a budget these days, considering gas prices and how cheap Wal-Mart is, yet if I suspected an illegal worker there, I'd call the authorities right away. We just can't have that kind of crap.

Yeah, I'm not sure if anyone brings totally clean hands to the table. So, until proven I'm wrong, I'll hold my nose and go for the best price, which generally is Wal-Mart.

Hey I shop where friends and Neighbors work. That means I shop at places that pay a living wage. Therefore I do not shop at Walmart.

Of course I buy ALL my food at wal-mart,, I save fifty to eight percent and more for the same products I would get else where and I'll tell you the products are fresher...only a fool will shop else where with hard earned money..
