I was named in a civil lawsuit in Kentucky. I no longer live there and live in another state. Of course they have been trying to locate me and serve me for 6 months, today at my home address of my parents they get a certified mail from the Sec. of State of Kentucky and its a summons. Is this legal service or do they physically have to serve me the summons? I have never heard of being legally served via USPS...

Thanks

Not enough info. You may be served "constructively" by publication and/or US mail if you did anything that permits service under one of Kentucky's "long arm statutes." Suggest you contact a Kentucky lawyer.

There is insufficient information to answer this question definitively.

I would look carefully at Kentucky Rules of Civil Procedure 4.04, 4.05, 4.06. 4.07 and 4.07. You might be "constructively served."

Chat with a member of the Kentucky state bar as soon as possible.

That is a question that should be asked of a lawyer. Any advice you get online is worth exactly what you paid for it.

i.e. nothing
