1: often the toilet is in a room all by itself, the washbasin and shower are separate. In fact one house I was in, the washbasin was literally in the hallway, with the Ofuro at the other end of the house from the toilet.

2: the slippers you wear in the house are NOT the ones you wear into the toilet room, those are different.

6: 3: The Japanese do not heat/cool their entire house, only the room they are in at the time, turning it off as they leave.

4: most kitchens do NOT contain a full size oven, only a small fish broiler. baked goods are almost universally purchased from bakeries( and man is their bread yummy!)

5: you shower/clean BEFORE getting into the Ofuro. It is for soaking only, not washing.

6: Shoji screens double as walls and often are used to hide the bedding away.

1.) No shoes are worn past the "doorway".

2.) When at a guests house you dont sit at the head of the table. It's rude.

3.) No chairs. Everything is tatami mats and cushions.
