Yes

Not so much for a place like Polls and Surveys but if you look over on the Politics section where people feel free to insult and degrade people based on race, creed, color and political inclination, saying things that they would never ever say if they did not have the ability to hide behind a false ID.

The Internet has become a place where cowards say things that they would not have the spine to say in real life. Look a few weeks ago over on My Space where the poor girl was driven to suicide by her friends mother. If that woman had not been able to hide behind a false identity then the young girl would still be alive.

If you are here for innocent reasons then you have nothing to hide, so why would you want to?

By the way the last name is Gillen to go with the Thomas G

Yes and No.

Yes because someone may have helped you and you want to thank them personally. No because of the safety issue.

Not saying that one is in danger while being on here, but it can help for being a deterent for the 1% of the nitwits who would misbehave or make someone else's life miserable.

No there are way to many wackos and perverts on the Internet. If you are on it stay anonymous or you may end up with one ringing your doorbell. That happened to my neighbors 15 year old daughter. Scary!

Sometimes you just want to be your alter ego. Shrunken Fro would be mine. My real name is Rene and I have no problem with people knowing it but I just chose to use something that describes me more.

naw, what would be the point? and you may be recognized by somebody you dont want to be recognized by! especially if your in school and they spread a question around you had but you didnt want anyone to know about, that could get really embarrassing I feel Its best to remain anonymous.

ive always felt the internet should be divided in 2 as you
log on
1. the real side (registered real names)
2. the anonymus side (anything goes)

that would be the first thing you chose after logging on

You should be able to use whatever name you want. 'Kat' is the first 3 letters of my name because I hate my real name.

No, it wouldn't be safe.

By the way, didn't I see you once in the woods just outside of Athens? In the middle of summer, I think it was?
