What are Texas problems right now. It could be a social problem or politics or whatever

There is a strong religious influence on many things here. People are very close-minded. They're friendly until you disagree on something, especially religion.

There is also a lot of racism and violent crime in the big cities. Property taxes are insane. Obesity and diabetes are rampant here. The school system is OK, but not as good as other places.

From what I've seen in the 2 years since I moved here 2 years ago, the problems are related to an overwhelming Christian majority.

However, despite all the problems, Texas is still better than New Mexico (where I lived before I moved here).

Long term, the problems in Texas are two fold in nature - the new ones, and the old ones - The old ones are a residual prejudice against Mexicans and Blacks, though these are largely resolved and exist only in isolated pockets of entrenched ignorance -
The new problems are those caused by the invasion of the ACLU, Environmental activists, left wing liberals et al, who seek to change the life styles that made Texas a fun and attractive place to live in the first place - the whole pointy headed new england crowd (harvard, princeton, yale, brown) who think they know better how you should live your life than you do - Hilary lovers (followed by sound of coughing and spitting as the hated name defiles the very air we breath)
