Perhaps if your friend knew you asked a question like that in a public forum, she would arrive at the same question about you.
Are you afraid for your image? Are you afraid of being alienated by people through association? Are you reluctant to offend other peoples sensibilities? Who gives a ****!? Well you do, of course....Its all about you anyways right?
Anyways, just the fact your friend is using the "goth" B.S. to attract attention, doesn't make her a bad person, just lonely and insecure. She's just painfully mainstream and truly unoriginal, although I guarantee she thinks she's "different". Yeah right.
Enough sarcasm. I would think maybe you are what your friend needs at the moment. As long as she doesn't threaten your life or well being,is true to you, and you truly enjoy who she is, why would you not be her friend?

It is a tragedy that youths don't understand the value of striking out into the world on a positive note instead of this goth/emo ridiculous mess. But they aren't getting the right guidance, and I understand how it happens. Certainly, if you like this person, continue to be her friend. But don't get dragged down into that fake depression angst against the world mess. Teenagers are in a unique position to get the most out of life and it is such a waste to throw it into the garbage. I am all for rebellion.. but do it in a way that benefits you, not breaks you down. Perhaps you could help your friend by always trying to be extra upbeat around her and ignore all the gloom and doom stuff.

You need to make up your mind. Either she is your friend or she isn't. If she isn't your friend, is it because of your maturity or hers? I had some really good friends in high school who were gothic. There's nothing wrong with them, except they have a style that clashes with the majority of society.

that is kindof messed up asking that. Are you worried what people think about you being friends with her. if you are than do not be friends. But if you like her for who she is and you two have a good friendship than stay friends. Friendship is not off of looks but off of knowing each other. So you got to look at which one you want to stay friends or follow the crowd. i suggest you stay friends
Make the right choice

Of course you should still be her friend. Just because she dresses and acts differently doesn't mean anything. She is still a friend no matter how she dresses and looks. My boyfriend use to be Goth too. Yea he still acts strange sometimes but I still love him all the same. And I would even if he was Goth again.

If you like her as the person she is then YES! Don't drop someone just because they're different and refuse to conform with the rest of the school population. If you think she is nice and you want to be her friend then be her friend. No one can stop you from doing what you want to do. What if it was you who dressed different. Wouldn't you want at least ONE friend to stand beside you?

As long as you like her personality and she is not trying to suggest things to you that are against you beliefs. Clothes and piercings although strange looking in some cases are not necessarily reflective of the persons Integrity or honesty and true friendship. You tell me why you wouldn't be her friend other than certain people don't like her?

I hope this is a joke.
If not, then if you like her for who she is, then yes, be her friend.
If she's being picked on, she needs people to support her and let her know they care. She probably chooses to dress that way because it makes her stand out, and she thinks maybe someone will notice her. That and it may fit with her world-view, as she feels isolated and alone.
SO in summary, YES.

So, you're going to drop her as a friend because it's not popular to like a person who dresses in black and looks like a porcupine?
That says more about you than her.

okay. u like her she is your friend why should you care what other people think. so let me ask you this if you do something and no one likes you go and change because someone says they dont like. well if you do that means you care on what to much of what people say. so you would stop being friends with someone just because people dont like her. well that really just makes you look like a mean friend.and thats just saying your friendship isnt that important if you cant just go and throw it away because she isnt liked.
