My 3 1/2 year old has been sneaking into my bed every night since me and his father split, and i'm a very heavy sleeper and I have a huge bed, so I never notice it.

In the last two weeks, I have woken up in the morning and my son has wet my bed three times (my bed is way more comfortable than any toddler mattress so I think he's sleeping heavier and not waking up like he used to). I've used a bleach/water solution and then kept a fan on it all day to dry it out, but my mattress still smells like urine. Heavily.
Is there anything better than bleach that I can use to get the smell out? It's a brand new mattress, and I dont have the money to get it proffessionally cleaned or anything.
Also, do you think it's too late to correct the already existing stains?

I've never had to deal with child urine smells..... but when I have other odors in/on furniture I usually use vinegar and hot water. Of course you will have to deal with the vinegar smell for awhile but it usually works.

Another idea... go to a Vet or online and look for skunk odor remover. The active ingredients in that should help get the job done!

Urine Out Of Mattress

Unfortunately a mattress is very difficult to clean because the urine penetrated all the way down to the coils so if you clean it you can only clean the surface and not the extremities.
The very first thing that you should do is, to out and get a protective cover that is water proof just like the ones they use in the hospitals, strip your bed down and open the window if you have one ,get a box of baking soda and put a large amount on the spot where the urine stain is ,leave it for most of the day ,then before bed time run the vacuum and remake your bed ,repeat the same the next day. When you can replace the mattress and always use a protective cover on the mattress.

I used a carpet/furniture cleaner on a mattress once. It cleaned up VeRy nicely and smelled vERy fresh afterwards because of the cleaning solution that came with the machine.
I rented the cleaner from a local grocery store for $20.

Go to your local pet store and buy Nature's Miracle. It will take the smell of anything out! Perfectly safe as it is made from enzymes. I am never without it! Best of luck!

You need to buy some Febreeze and spray it down. Also if he is going to keep coming in there use a waterproof mattress pad or a big garbage bag under the one you have. good luck
