Well, I suppose the word, "Artisan" is correct in its stricktest meaning, but it has a negative connotation to it, doesn't it? (as in highly skilled in a very small area, if you catch my drift?) Personally, none...I have seen far too many highly artistic people with tremendous imagination, skill, and technique who die on the vine of being unknown. LIke singers, there are so many very good artists, but so few make it in life, they give up frustrated and go into other fields. Personally, I cannot imagine making a living with collage or Scrapbooks, unless I was selling the supplies! For the most part, the people who make money on Photography are those who sell the cameras, etc. Somehow, I suspect that most of us, by mid age, have found what they love to do and make good money at it...at least I certainly hope they have, for if not, they have only theirselves to blame. I cannot imagine going to a job that I didn't love. That would be too much of a life thrown away on the Mount Trashmore of making a living for a living's sake. Again, you have got me going...Goldwing

Remember the question about the last word we had to look up, well I couldn't remember then what it was. However, my answer now is 'Artisan'. lol For some reason all I could think of was a well.
I'm still not sure my answer is correct, but I would 'draw'. Not that I'm good at it, but I like to draw these funny little characters left handed. (I'm right handed) I'd put them on tee shirts and greeting cards-which I do like to make. They'd be far out and fun for people to get and give.

Photography would be my choice, but only doing landscape & scenery, travelling the globe...what a great way That would be to earn a living....shame I did'nt have an interest in that when I was young, I'm by no means good at the technical side of it but I do like to look for interesting ways to take family pictures, I took a picture of my children when they were all young, we were out playing in the snow, on the way home I saw a tree that leaning quite a lot...got all the kids from oldest to youngest to look like they were pushing it over....it was a great picture...even had the most beautiful setting winter sun in the background...

Are those the only choices?
If so, I'd choose photography. Seems like you'd have a greater chance of securing paid work as a photographer. There are many different avenues such as newspaper work, event photography, stock photo libraries, corporate and advertising... in addition to (and could pay for) one's art photography.
Not to be rude, but I can't imagine too many people paying for collages or scrapbooking services that folks mostly do themselves. It would seem to me that most of the enjoyment of "scrapbooking" (when did scrapbook become a verb, anyway? ;-) would be the process of making it, rather than the end result. That's just me though...

I'd love to be sculptor. Not that I have an artistic bone in my body, but looking at beautiful works which had started out as a big block of stone...wow, I'd love to be able to do that.
PS I love the quote (probably apocryphal) about Michelangelo. Someone asked him how he had sculpted the statue of David from a big block of marble. He said " David
was in there already. I just chipped away all the bits that didn't look like him."

I would definitely have to choose Photography Wick. I can never take enough pictures. I like to take pictures of anything,
friends, family, strangers, a lone tree standing in a pasture,
beautiful flowers etc. I also enjoy doing Collages too and have made several for family. My daughter-in-law is so good at Scrapbooking. I wish I had the patience to do it to. Maybe later on. Good question.
So, will you be joining others at my celebration tonight?

As a hobby I repair old photos, create wedding picture albums and wedding videos.
I make custom greeting cards and wedding invitations.
I would wish to be an Artist. Everyone in the family inherited their artistic ability through my husbands lineage, I can't even draw a stick figure with out being teased.
I did have one talent.
When I could use my hands I played the guitar and also taught guitar.
Thanks for the question.

hi Wick,
I actually have been able to make a living of sorts as an artist; it's been a few years though - and it wasn't a great living either, lol.
I have been a wall muralist, a glass etching artist(on things like large windows and shower enclosures)and I've done comissioned paintings..also sold my own jewelry, handpainted furniture, carved & painted gourds, carved walking sticks, and done custom painted doc marten boots.
It's very hard to make a living this way...but I sure had the time of my life trying.

I like to paint with oils.
My father was a photographer for the Federal Gov. so I photogged and greatly enjoyed the process.

Sculpture...stone, wood, clay. I like working with my hands and seeing my vision come slowly to life. And I think the 3 dimensional art is much more satisfying than painting or other flat 2D stuff.
