They are 2 diffirent in the same resort and yes you do have to buy 2 tickets for each park or you can buy that package where you can go to BOTH for a cheap price.

Yes, you can get a park hopper ticket similar to Disney's park hopper. It's around $100, and it's good for 2 days.
By the way, one of the people erred in saying Islands of Adventure is part of EPCOT.

It's two separate parks but you can purchase a single ticket that allows you access to both parks.

They are separate parks...I highly suggest you buy a park hopper pass if you want to go to both. most of the time on universal stuidos website you can save money by buying the pass online.

no, they are different but if you buy certain packages they give you the choice of additional activities / parks to visit.
Universal is separate from disney-epcot which is where the island adventures is
