The divorce rate technically varies month to month but has climbed over all to nearly 48 percent with some indicators of a slight reverse in the upward trend evident in the last 5 decades. The problem is easily identified and remedied. Many of our young people have been deluded by the media into treating this union casually, and therefore enter into it with the idea built in that if they don't like it, they can get out.
And do -- on the other hand, the following pertain for those who are really serious and want their marriage to last: First, be a person of Faith, and marry within that faith; secondly, if possible, the husband should be at least five years older (it takes us guys longer to grow up); third, get married in church (or whatever sacred setting is appropriate) and mean what you say - do NOT lie to God - "for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health...."; believe what scripture says, "the two become one flesh" -- live for the best interest of your life partner, two persons doing this will hold the other above himself always, and neither will ever be unhappy in the union; don't have a "relationship", have a union; Never, ever, be unfaithful!!! - why would you? You made a promise, is your word meaningless?
Last - never go to bed angry, speak your love as often as you can daily - renew your vows on your anniversary - in other words, work at it -- the rewards are enormous - and don't be superficial if, with the passage of time, you or she become enormous - the body will fail and decay - but you will be as in love and attracted to each other as ever as the years go by.
