Ask the China Part in the china forum. Its like asking what are historical places and monuments in the United States and the United Kingdom in one sentence.

For Japan there are dozens and dozens of places that have historical significance, to many to name, what exactly are you looking for?

There are many places in Japan that are on the United Nations "World Heritage Sights" list. With many more as candidates.
There are also many sights that are not on the list, but are of significance to the history of Japan.

Many temples and shrines mostly, such as in Kyoto and Nara. However there are modern historical sights and monuments such as in Nagasaki and Hiroshima (where the atomic bombs were used in WW2).

So depends on what you're looking for, I would check the UN World Hertiage Site List.
