I think stereotypes reflect more badly on the person making the stereotype than on the subject of it. Black nail polish isn't too big a deal, but some of the other stereotypes I've seen make me question why anyone would believe in such stupid, unfounded nonsense.
Then again, it could be argued that humans are to an extent hard-wired to pre-judge. In ancient times there was actually some survival value in believing something that was usually, though not always, false, because not believing it could get you killed the one time it turns out to be true. For instance, believing that strangers who came to your town were dangerous and untrustworthy. But in these modern times when we have rational thought at our disposal, stereotypes simply no longer serve any positive useful role anymore.

Wear what you want. I always say less is more. For example.. I like the bright, clean looks of modern.. I hate the ugly old colonial looks of the way houses are built, with their fake shutters & columns.. all sorts of phony adornments that do nothing to improve upon anything except add $$$ to costs.
It is the same with women.. the clean & simple looks sooo much better to me..!! ; - )

yes, but unfortunately there is a stereotype called "i hate stereotypes, im me, im an individual!" and everyone who enteres it is just in another stereotype! ur destined to be in a stereotype no matter how much you hate them.(NOTE:i get the emo stereotype alot, black nails, fake black rimmed glasses, dark hair, funky color strip. i do these things bc i like them. not bc im emo. emo annoys me.)

Advertisers love them. The Advertisers who appeared on your question page were for cosmetics and for "nail finders."

I love streotypes, as much as I hate to admit, I love being a streotype. Right now, I am a streotype, and I like it.
