No.
The real reason behind the war was that the north had begun to industrialize and use machinery which was more efficient than humans, and they no longer needed the slaves.Yet the North still kept them in slavery after the war in many places. The south had free labor and did not want to buy expensive machinery and pay for expensive repairs and parts. This is what lead to the north taking legislative jabs to punish the south into giving in.They fought back though and during the war after Lincoln had said he didnt believe in slavery but thought it was unconstitutional to ban it where it existed under the constitution, made the "proclamation of emancipation" so the slaves could be drafted into the war.
The south has nascar, , the tar heels, beautiful beaches, industry , and the BEST food in the U.S.

His point was that the South did NOT have steel mills or the industrial machinery to win the war.
Troops have to be clothed (South could do that), fed (South could do that), shod (South didn't have the resources to shoe armies), armed (South didn't have weapons manufacturers like the North), and supplied (the South had railroads, but they couldn't replace the railroads or the locomotives that the Yankees destroyed).

It also didn't have the money to buy goods elsewhere unless they could sell their cotton. To sell their cotton, they had to get through the Yankee blockade.

The South threw everything they had into the war, hoping that the war would end before they ran out of resources. It didn't work.

As a Chicagoan sitting and listening to the snow blow outside, I envy you people in the south. Sure there are blockheads there, but they are everywhere. One of the sexiest, intelligent men I know lives in SC...where I wish I was...
