MEN...What do you want?

I need some good, serious answers for a paper I'm writing.

What is it that keeps your marriages strong? What do you expect from your wives/relationships to keep you happy?

Coming from a family with a long history of divorce, I can tell you where things have gone wrong.

First, we want commitment. If the woman can't commit to us and will not discipline herself to keep her eyes from wondering, it's a doomed relationship. In return, we should also be totally committed to her, and not allowing our eyes to wonder either.

We want to be the head. Traditionally, men are the head of the house. Men are also the ones responsible if anything happens. No matter what interest groups say, if something's wrong in the house, it's always traceable to the man. (though there are times the woman is in the wrong, but that's usually traceable back to the man as well)

We want support. Women may not always understand what a man is after, but if she doesn't support him, it can feel like rejection.

We need understanding. Men are not from Mars, nor are women from Venus, but since we're both on earth, we seek understanding from one another. Often times, this requires forgiveness. If a woman can't forgive her husband for his short comings, then she'll never see his true potential. (likewise, men should also be forgiving of their wives)

We want sex. I know women do too, but I've seen relationships where women withhold sex as a means of punishing their mates when they disapprove of their actions. This only hurts the relationship and causes weaker men to look elsewhere.

We want communication. A wife who can effectively communicate her needs is much better than one who stuff it in. Besides this, if she stuffs it in, she'll most likely start withholding sex or acting out in other areas. As such, we want to know what's going on in her life as well.

Above all, we want Love. Now, there are many ways to show love to a mate, but you have to know and learn how to. Men want a woman who'll find what he likes and give it to him. Some men require alone time, some require space, some require action. It's all about knowing how to best show love to us that makes us feel special. If a woman gives the same love to everyone, then we don't feel special, so we want that place where she's creative in her expressions toward us.

guys are simple, they say what they want. women try to beat around the bush, "hey darling, i sure like so and so's new purse". and now i must have not been paying attention because i didn't get you the same purse for your b day. a man will say i want this power drill, or lets go shopping i need milk and eggs. then they go to the store and grab milk and eggs, no wondering down the Ilse, or looking around. in and out. simple. but what i usually look for in a women is compromise and commitment. to love each other even when you are very angry with that person and don't feel like talking to her.
