Sure it's "The Biggest Stage Of Um All", but it's really no different then any other PPV, besides the fact that it's longer and theres more matches.
It's still the same, regular title defences, regular feud matches. The only special thing about it is the Money in the Bank match and that isn't even close towards the main event, it was 1st match at Wrestlemania 23
What is so special about Wrestlemania?

I diden't say MITB should be main event, I said it should be near it, it's a 8 man (I think it's still 8) ladder match.
So what if it's held outside? That hardly makes it better.

Wrestlemania is not that damn special by itself...the crowd and the fans making it special...
I mean,80000 in attendance it must be something unique about this PPV and it is...
You can just take a look to the history of this PPV.So many classics happend there..
*Hogan slamming Andre in front of 90000+ in attendance
*HBK vs Bret Hart Iron Man match
*The Undertaker's performances
and many more classics and unique matches/events...
The stakes are more higher at some matches...for example Undertaker is undefeated there and it is different when people battling with him on other PPVs than it is from there...
I do agree that the matches are similar to the other PPVs but the crowd make the difference.Westlemania hyped for this day and for this event. The crowd believed the hype at the beginning and the event found his way to the history...
But i find it strange that you said it is not different and also you said that there are only more matches and more hours..What they are supposed to change??Wrestle in a swimming pool instead of a ring?
It is not that different from other PPVs but just the legacy and the history which made there is awesome and chillin' enough to make you for another one...
In tennis for example? You have the grand slams which are like the 4 big PPVs of WWE but generally speaking are the same tournaments with ATP Masters's and World Tours...
In every sport we have some PPVs or events or tournaments or whatever that are a little bit better..history made there and we consider it the "grandest stage of them all"
Of course, sometimes the less "important" PPVs/tourneys/events are more enjoyable than the big ones.It depends on the show and in the taste of the viewer most of all...
I consider myself Wrestlemania the biggest one, because of the history, the high stakes are up, and Wrestlemania was built and hyped for that..MITB matches are awesome and the stakes are high as well as the other matches and more cause history proved that the winner of the MITB(not Man in the Box(UN)) matches are supposed to get a huge push and take a title reign. The same happend to Rob Van Dam,Edge and it was about to happen to Kennedy if he hadn't injured at that period of time...
Edge though "stole" his briefcase cashed in and he became Champion again.3on3 for the MITB winners....
Finally,to tell you the truth i enjoy the Royal Rumble more because of the Royal Rumble match which is so unique and most of the times is unpredictable and you can expect the unexpected to come..Like in 2002(if i remember) when Maven eliminate The Undertaker..i was shocked...
I think though that Wrestlemania will stay as the biggest one for ever...
Believe The Hype!!!

Nothing really when you think about it...I actually think that SummerSlam has always been the better overall show.
The thing is, WW(F)E did a great job in branding 'Mania as the must-watch show. The first 3 shows really set the tone (Rock-N-Wrestling, Mr. T, Hogan-Andre, Steamboat-Savage, etc.). The other thing they do really well is bringing in the mainstream celebrities or personalities (Trump, Tyson, Gennifer Flowers, Pete Rose, etc.) to get some mainstream media coverage.
It's kind of like name-brand vs. generic products...exact same ingredients, just different amounts of hype. All of the WWE PPVs are pretty much the same thing nowadays (just expanded versions of Raw)...but there's so much history behind that WrestleMania name that you believe that there's something much more special to it.

this is a great question. i would say the only thing so special about it is the fact that it was the first ppv from the wwf. what other ppv has been going on for 23 years. to me the MITB isnt even that important it only started in the last 3 years. its only special cuz they hype mania more than the rest cuz it was the original wwf ppv.

What other ppvs have been held in football stadiums? This years wm sucked but it still sold out. MITB is not supposed to be the main event.

I'd say because it's far more built-up to in terms of feuds, more high-profile matches especially since WM is where WWE puts on their "dream matches," a far larger atmosphere, and because it's such a big PPV the wrestlers tend to do their best.

Its just the history of it. Its been going on for around 23 years that its like the Super Bowl of Wrestling where its just the biggest event on the schedule. Its like the US Open of tennis. Its just like every other tennis tournament so what makes it so special.
