You sound just like me! I had a 7 hour 1st labour, no pain relief other than the water ( i had a water birth) no tears no nothing!
Was out the next morning and felt great, other than bruising and normal soreness. My daughter didnt have a funny shaped head, was not a mark on her she weighed 8lb1oz. Was a great labour!
This time, i am due 28th dec and i am terrified lol!
They have already told me they expect that he will be bigger than my daughter as i am measuring over 2 weeks bigger. He hurts me when he kicks so i can understand that he is bigger, he certainly feels it! He even kicked through my abdominal muscle wall! (thankfully it is now healing) and i smoked whilst pregnant with my daughter.....i have given up now and i know it is wrong. So now i dont smoke i am also expecting a bigger baby! I remember the "ring of fire" when my daughters head crowned and i thought i was gonna split in 2 so i now exactly how you feel!!!
I have planned a water birth again with no pain relief and i am hoping i can really manage. I was planning a homebirth but i am not allowed as i am carrying group B strep!
I hope it helps to know your not the only one! I too planned this pregnancy but i was lucky enough to fall the first month i came off the pill! So i didnt have long to get used to the idea!
And bad planning for xmas lol....i bet i end up having my dinner in hosp!
Maybe have a think about water coz i thought the contractions were gonna kill me with my daughter but it wasa wonderful relief when i got in the pool!
I hope this helps....phew i've writtena book! lol
Congrats on your preggo btw...hope all goes well xxxx

Aww,bless ya!
I only had my first baby five weeks ago,I too had a great labour, only 8 and a half hours but he was 5 days late and poohed inside,he wouldnt come out and then my contractions tailed off so I had to have a drip to get them going again and had to have an episiotomy(you have a local for that!) and he was delivered by ventouse. He also tore me inside on the way out.
I had no pain relief, not even gas and air! The most painful thing was having my legs in the stirrups while being stitched, was also being stitched when the local wore off!
I'm not at all scared about my second labour,in fact if my hubby would let me we'd be planning it now!
Every labour is different, this time you might have an awful labour or it may even be better than last time!! Go with your body and just see what happens.
Its really early days for your pregnancy but I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you have another good labour.

I'll be honest with you I AM PETRIFIED. I had such a bad labour last time around it almost put me off trying for a second child. I didn't have an episiotomy I tore badly ( she was only small too!) and needed stitches and although i was supposed to have a local I was told to just suck away at the gas by a doctor!
Don't get me wrong my little boy is very much loved and wanted. I will do anything I can to make sure he arrives safe and sound. I'm just a scared and I think a lot of women, once they have been through labour before will feel the same as us regardless of the lovely bundle of joy at the end of it.
Take Care XX

Hi there. Don't feel stupid about it, LOL. It's not uncommon to feel scared even the second time around. It's only natural to be that way. Pregnancies differ, as do labor and delivery experiences. Someone mentioned that you already know what it's like, so you shouldn't be scared. But, really, that doesn't make a difference, b/c this is a totally new pregnancy, and there is no way of knowing what to expect this time around.
I was just the same way. :) When pg with my son (now 8 1/2), I was so nervous, very scared, but also elated at the same time, of course. I had had a miscarriage before, so I had whole new set of fears to deal with being that I had complications with my son. Anyway... I was terrified of labor and delivery, didn't know what to expect. Wanted to go natural... but then decided to have the epidural, I couldn't go on anymore with fighting the contractions, I was getting tired and wouldn't have had any energy to push. Well, thankfully I got the epidural b/c I needed an emergency c/section.
With my daughter, I planned a vbac. I was scared all over again, not knowing what to expect. I ended up with another emergency c/section.
You are totally normal, feeling those fears. I wish you all the best! Congrats on the pregnancy, btw. :)

well im due to drop my second any day now so havent been thru it yet. my first was a 12hour labour gas n air n pethadine. 3 hours of pushing had to have a drip had 2nd degree tear loadsa stitches son was 10lb 12oz, despite all that afterwards didnt think it was as bad as what it could have been. wanted to get pregnant again really badly (as you do) got pregnant and then when i was in my first trimester i got really scared and wondered what on earth possesed me to get pregnant again. anyway i had my first proper scan (the dating scan, i did have 2 b4 that but 1 u cudnt see n e thing and the second i cudnt get a foto) and then all my worries just went away and was looking forward to it. i cant wait for this baby to come am so fed up but i have to say i was in the docs the other day to discus having an induction when he sed yeah he's all up for it but has to clear it with the big guys first and went out of the room i started to panic again and thought o s**t what have i let my self in for. luckily my cervix wasnt ready enuff to be induced. well i say luckily i do still really want this baby to be born. anyway your worry and fear will pass in a few weeks trust me, i asked exactly the same question when i first found out. and as for the episiotomy yeah the give u a local. gud luck with everything

The second time round should be so much easier - you have the experience, and you know how wonderful it feels to hold your baby. I had an episiotomy, which I can't even remember, together with numerous stitches. It just seems to happen so quickly, try and focus on the outcome rather than what you're going through. My baby weighed 9 lbs 5 oz and I only weighed less than 8 stone when I became pregnant. She was big, like a big christmas turkey. Look forward, enjoy your pregnancy. You're a special person when you're pregnant - enjoy the moment! Best of luck.

I actually had to have a C-section with my last 2 kids.
I would advise checking out a Lamaze class. That is what my husband and I did with our first baby - a daughter. She weighed 9 lbs. 13 ozs. All in all - it was hard - BUT the thing that you have to remember is that Lamaze teaches you to WORK WITH THE PAIN and NOT TO FIGHT THE PAIN. It teaches you breathing methods, which make you concentrate on getting through the pain and not fighting.
My labor was around 15 hours, but it was alot better than another gal that was in labor at the same time I was. SHE SCREAMED THROUGH THE WHOLE THING!!!!! That was upsetteing to hear - espically given that there are such things as the Lamaze Method.
Please consider Lamaze - remember that any drugs that you get so does your baby!!!!
Some places have birthing class - I am not really familiar with that though. Talk to your OB-GYN about your concerns too.
Good luck and everything will turn out fine.

yes i know the feeling. i am 33 wks with our 3rd daughter. and i have been very excited but also scared. to me each time puts a new excitement/scaryness in my mind. for me the 2nd went way faster and i knew what to expect but at the same time it was different if that makes sence. as far as episiotomys go, i know they do local unless its necessary to do it asap. and if thats the case you wont feel it anyways becasue the baby is putting pressure on the nerves that make you feel alot of stuff down there. good luck. hope all goes well. god bless
