The probability that the Yankees will win the pennat is 5/7. What is the odds against the Yankees winning the pennant?

The probability they don't win is 1 - 5/7 or 2/7

But the *odds* against winning are 2 to 5

2/5, you said odds, this is the odds not probability as they are not the same thing

odds is # of favorable events over # of unfavorable events

5/7 means 5 chances out of 7 to win,
so losing is 2 chances.

2 to lose out of 5 to win makes the odds = 2/5
